Hi friends, and thanks for stopping by to read Barn Clean, House… Not So Much.
Another fun read for Cowgirl Monday!
This is a situation many horsewomen find themselves in. We spend a lot of time at the barn with our horses and are always puttering around and keeping things clean.
Our houses where we actually live? Not so much!

There’s a special kind of magic that happens when you own a horse.
You wake up in the morning with every intention of tackling the laundry, organizing the kitchen, maybe even vacuuming up that mystery fuzz growing in the corner.
And then… you just pop out to the barn for a minute.
Fast-forward three hours, and the barn aisle is swept to surgical-ward standards. Stalls are so fresh they could be featured in a magazine. The tack gleams, the water buckets sparkle, and even the wheelbarrow looks like it’s ready for a photo shoot.
Meanwhile, back in the house… the laundry pile has unionized. The sink is holding a grudge and several plates hostage. Somewhere under the couch is a colony of dust bunnies developing a complex social structure.
It’s not that horsewomen don’t care about their houses. It’s just that the barn calls to us in a way the dishwasher never will. Horses don’t care if our socks are mismatched, but they do appreciate a clean stall, a full hay net, and a freshly filled water trough.
So yes, the barn is spotless. The house? Well… let’s just say if you need me, I’ll be outside – probably reorganizing the feed room.
Because a happy horse is worth a slightly embarrassed wave when the neighbor drops by unexpectedly.

Happy Monday!
