Hey friends – I have found the Christmas song I’ve been searching years for!

When I was a teenager a song sometimes played on the radio in December. This would be 1976 or 1977.

The song was a parody of the 12 Days of Christmas. It was sung by a celebrity impressionist and the song featured the voices of celebrities from the 1950s to 1970s. The only voice I remembered for sure was Arnold Horshack from Welcome Back, Kotter. He sung the 9th day of Christmas and his verse was 9 Mr. Kotters. Of course I was a big fan of Welcome Back Kotter, so obviously that would be the only voice I remembered!

I didn’t remember too much else about the song but I remembered the voice of John Wayne. It has been decades since I heard the song!

Rich Little?

The famous celebrity impressionist of the time was Rich Little. So it’s only natural for me to think that he was the singer.

Over the years I’ve tried to find this song again always doing a search for Rich Little and 12 Days of Christmas.

Nothing. I got nothing.

Until this past week when I tried again. It seems there are lots of people out there looking for the Rich Little version of the 12 Days of Christmas. Oddly most of these people seemed to remember it from the 1980s.

Who sang that Christmas song?

I clicked on various discussion links and found one discussion where someone wondered if the song the original poster was looking for is a Steve Ivings song called Christmas Daze.

The name meant nothing to me but I clicked the YouTube link.

And found the song I’ve been searching for!

It was not sung by Rich Little after all!

Christmas Daze

OK, if you were a teenager in the 70s, you might remember this Christmas song. If you were born after 1975 you probably won’t recognize any of these celebrity voices!

A little more Christmas cheer

Today I went out for breakfast at a restaurant I spotted last week and I liked the name. I’m always a research kind of person and I checked them out online and saw they offered breakfast.

OK then! It’s a cold day and I don’t feel like doing much.

It was hard to guess the age of the waitress. I want to say around 60 years old, give or take 10 years. One of these ladies I can identify with. Working hard at low paying jobs. She probably gets $2 or $3 tips from the breakfast menu. And sometimes these poor, hardworking servers don’t get a tip at all.

Breakfast was fine – the classic 2 eggs, home fries, fruit, and toast. I also ordered hot chocolate. Total bill came to $10.50. I paid an even $20, leaving the server a $9.50 tip. Which she thanked me for and wished me holiday greetings.

If you get the opportunity to spread a little Christmas cheer and make someone’s life a little brighter, your act of kindness will light up their day.
