Free Kindle Novels this Weekend of September 4, 2026

I’ve found some free Kindle novels this weekend of September 4, 2026 on Amazon. Yay!

Hey friends. It’s been a year since I last did a post about free Kindle novels I’ve found on Amazon. Sorry, as most of you know this past year I was 6 months outside the country without my laptop and creating new posts when I returned.

Most of my reading tastes tend to run cozy mysteries, mysteries, and thrillers. If that’s not your thing … sorry:(

Free Kindle books are becoming tougher to come by! Well, not always, just the ones that I’ve already read and recommend. Many authors offer the first book in a series for free to generate reader interest to buy more novels in the series. Works for me! As the writers get more popular and make more sales, they take down the freebies. They might make the first in the series 99¢ or they might have a freebie when a new book is launched. Hopefully you grabbed some of my favorites in previous posts when they were still free!

You don’t need a Kindle to read books for free. For years I did most of my eBook reading on my iPad where I downloaded the Kindle app – free! You can download the Kindle app onto your tablet, Smartphone, or your computer so you too can read for free. Amazon will help you find your way. Under the buy now option, Amazon has a little banner that says “Read on any device.” Click it and follow the instructions on where you’d like to read books.

PRICE CHECK!!!

Always double check the price before hitting the “buy now” button on Amazon. Some of these novels migrate to their regular price without warning! Right now these kindle novels are free during the weekend of September 4, 2026.

Amazon changed the coding and bloggers can no longer show a “live” view of the book and its current price which is why you have to click through. And be disappointed if the book is no longer free. 😢

(Disclosure: I’m an Amazon associate and earn a small commission when you click on Amazon links on this site and make a purchase. These Kindle novels are currently free, therefore I won’t receive commission for making these referrals.)

And we’re in for a treat with a free box set – the Laurel McKay Humorous Cozy Mysteries Box Set (Books 1-3). This is only the second time I’ve seen this box offered for free, so get it while you can! It’s on free until September 6, 2026. Laurel is a recently divorced single mother of two who works in a bank. She tries out a matchmaking service and the fun begins! This series takes place in Northern California and I’ve read them all. Obviously one of my favorite authors because I usually buy the books as soon as they’re released instead of waiting for a deal!

Sally Berneathy

If you love chocolate as much as I do, you’ll love this delicious novel – Death By Chocolate! Lindsay is making a break from her ex-husband and opens a chocolate bakery. A stalker, poisoned chocolate, a quirky neighbor, and a dead man make this cozy mystery a lot of fun.

Mia Gold

I’ve recently discovered author Mia Gold because Knockout – A Holly Hands Mystery is free on Amazon Kindle. Holly is a rough around the edges wrestler who is bribed to take a fall – except she didn’t get paid for throwing the fight. She’s banned from competing and is hired by a former classmate to repo a luxury car. Things don’t go quite as planned. An enjoyable read as we join Holly in her quest to make money to pay for her daughter’s expensive medical procedures.

Again, lucky us readers, this is not the only Mia Gold novel on for free! There are two other series this author writes and the first book in each is also free.

Let’s start with On The Rocks (A Ruby Steele Mystery). Ruby is a former wrestler (anyone seeing a theme here?) who is hiding in the Bahamas working as a bartender. She finds a dead man in the bar’s dumpster, and unfortunately for her she becomes the cops number one suspect. The widow doesn’t believe it for a minute and hires Ruby to find the killer, even though she has no detective training.

Fatal Choice, book 1 in the Sydney Best Suspense series has Sydney working for the government in a secret service type job. Three high level government employees have been murdered within 24 hours. What is going on? PS – as far as I can tell Sydney has never worked as a boxer…

Blake Pierce

I’ve just downloaded Blake Pierce’s book The Perfect Wife (A Jessie Hunt Psychological Suspense Thriller—Book One). I must read a lot of books that sound like this one because I was pretty sure I’ve read it before. But when I look at the summary, I don’t think so. The passage below is copied from the Amazon page for this book.

Criminal profiler-in-training Jessie Hunt is sure she’s finally put the darkness of her childhood behind her. She and her husband, Kyle, just moved from a cramped downtown Los Angeles apartment into a Westport Beach mansion. Kyle’s promotion has them swimming in money. And Jessie is on the verge of getting her Master’s degree in forensic psychology, the last step in her dream of becoming a criminal profiler.

But soon after their arrival, Jessie begins to notice a series of strange developments. The neighbors—and their au pairs—all seem to be hiding secrets. The mysterious yacht club Kyle is desperate to join is rife with cheating spouses, and with troubling rules of its own. And the notorious serial killer being held at the psychiatric hospital where Jessie is completing her degree seems to know more about her life than is normal—or safe.

Creston Mapes

I often enjoy reading books that take place in Las Vegas. Love Las Vegas – haven’t been there in ages. The novel is Nobody: A Homeless Las Vegas Murder Mystery Thriller. And that pretty much summarizes the novel. Except the homeless murdered guy is a millionaire.
