I’ve found some free Kindle novels this weekend of March 7, 2025 on Amazon. Yay!

Hey friends. Most of my reading tastes tend to run cozy mysteries, mysteries, and thrillers. If that’s not your thing … sorry:(

Free Kindle books are becoming tougher to come by! Well, not always, just the ones that I’ve already read and recommend. Many authors offer the first book in a series for free to generate reader interest to buy more novels in the series. Works for me! As the writers get more popular and make more sales, they take down the freebies. They might make the first in the series 99¢ or they might have a freebie when a new book is launched. Hopefully you grabbed some of my favorites in previous posts when they were still free!

You don’t need a Kindle to read books for free. For years I did most of my eBook reading on my iPad where I downloaded the Kindle app – free! You can download the Kindle app onto your tablet, Smartphone, or your computer so you too can read for free. Amazon will help you find your way. Under the buy now option, Amazon has a little banner that says “Read on any device.” Click it and follow the instructions on where you’d like to read books.

Always double check the price before hitting the “buy now” button on Amazon. Some of these novels migrate to their regular price without warning! Right now these kindle novels are free during the weekend of March 7, 2025.

The Hunter Rayne Highway Mysteries feature ex-cop Hunter Rayne in his new career as a truck driver. But dead bodies and mysteries continue to follow him. The time period for the book is late 90s I think because cell phones were just beginning to be a thing and Hunter looks for a pay phone when he has to call someone. The books take place in the Greater Vancouver Area where the trucking firm Hunter works out of. But he doesn’t stick around there long because he’s a long haul trucker. Right now Ice on the Grapevine (A Hunter Rayne Highway Mystery, Book 2) is free on Amazon Kindle and the Grapevine is a highway in California.

This is a new author to me and I just downloaded Chilled to the Dog Bone (Samantha Davies Mysteries Book 5) which is part of the Gemma Halliday publishing line. They publish cozy mysteries and for the most part I’ve enjoyed them all. Some aren’t for me but overall I like them and figure I can’t go wrong with a freebie from an author who’s new to me. The book description is rather lengthy so I’ll just go with one of the quick reviews:
“A doggone entertaining mystery filled with small town scandals! Funny and entertaining!” Let’s hope it’s a good one!

Whenever I discover a new-to-me author with a freebie, I always check to see if they have any other current freebies, just in case I like the first one and want to read more right away. Today, no luck.

Sally Berneathy

If you love chocolate as much as I do, you’ll love this delicious novel – Death By Chocolate! Lindsay is making a break from her ex-husband and opens a chocolate bakery. A stalker, poisoned chocolate, a quirky neighbor, and a dead man make this cozy mystery a lot of fun.

Mia Gold

I’ve recently discovered author Mia Gold because Knockout – A Holly Hands Mystery is free on Amazon Kindle. Holly is a rough around the edges wrestler who is bribed to take a fall – except she didn’t get paid for throwing the fight. She’s banned from competing and is hired by a former classmate to repo a luxury car. Things don’t go quite as planned. An enjoyable read as we join Holly in her quest to make money to pay for her daughter’s expensive medical procedures.

Again, lucky us readers, this is not the only Mia Gold novel on for free! There are two other series this author writes and the first book in each is also free.

Let’s start with On The Rocks (A Ruby Steele Mystery). Ruby is a former wrestler (anyone seeing a theme here?) who is hiding in the Bahamas working as a bartender. She finds a dead man in the bar’s dumpster, and unfortunately for her she becomes the cops number one suspect. The widow doesn’t believe it for a minute and hires Ruby to find the killer, even though she has no detective training.

I’m currently reading Fatal Choice, book 1 in the Sydney Best Suspense series. As far as I can tell Sydney has never been a pro wrestler! She works for the government in a secret service type job and three high level government employees have been murdered within 24 hours. What is going on?

And guess what? Book 2 in this series is free this weekend! Fatal Mistake (A Sydney Best Suspense Thriller—Book 2). I just downladed it so I can’t give you a rundown more than what’s on the buy page: When a human trafficking case takes a macabre turn, DSS Agent Sydney Best is thrust into a world of power and evil. She must navigate the darkest corners of international crime to stop a mastermind who likes to play god–determining who lives and who dies.

Cheryl Bradshaw

I just spotted The Widow Maker (Sloane & Maddie, Peril Awaits Book 4) free on Amazon Kindle and downloaded it, so I can’t give you a run down other than what’s in the Amazon description: When salon owner Carrie King discovers Liza dead in the back room of her shop, everyone becomes a suspect, even her. As tensions in the community rise, so does the death toll, and now the local cops believe there’s a serial killer on the loose.

She’s one of my favorite writers with her fast moving, well crafted mysteries and I’ve read and recommended books in her other series too whenever I spot a freebie promotion.

You can also grab Little Tangled Webs (Georgiana Germaine Book 5) free on Amazon Kindle this weekend. A teenager has spent the past few years searching for her aunt’s killer. And gets killed in the process. This one had a surprise ending I didn’t see coming at all.
