Kind of following a theme of if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it for a few upcoming posts for Cowgirl Monday. Us cowgirls can fix just about anything with duct tape or baling twine. And a little attitude!
Clara Mae leaned against the fence, chewing on a piece of straw, watching Hank fuss with the gate hinge. He’d been at it for half an hour, muttering, banging, and squinting like he was performing heart surgery.
“Pretty sure that hinge wasn’t broke before you started fixin’ it,” she finally drawled.
“It was squeakin’!” he shot back, wiping sweat off his forehead.
Clara Mae raised an eyebrow. “So’s my horse, and I don’t see you tryin’ to tighten his bolts.”
Hank glared, then went back to hammering at nothing in particular.
She sighed, walked over, slapped a strip of duct tape across the hinge, then gave the gate a solid kick. It swung just fine.
“See?” she said with a grin. “Duct tape and attitude. Everything else is just a man lookin’ for somethin’ to fix.”
